17 Dec UETR intervenes on international haulage market
8 November 2012– Hearing at DG MOVE on the review of Regulation n. 1072/2009 on access to market
A delegation of UETR members led by Secretary General Marco Digioia met in Brussels on the 7 th of November the Head of Unit of DG MOVE Land Transport Mr. Kristian Hedberg to discuss the review of EU Regulation n. 1072/2009 on access to the international road haulage market. The hearing tackled the following issues:
- Enforcement proposal
- Application of local labour rules and control procedures
- Opening options for cabotage
- Joint liability
“UETR continues to call on the European Union for harmonization of costs and conditions before discussion on opening options can take place. Moreover, the creation of a full and general co-liability principle of the other parts of the supply chain – not only for infringements of provisions on driving times and rest periods but also compliance with the rules on access to market is of paramount importance: it is the only way to develop a mature industrial relations system and achieve a genuine internal market for inland transport in the EU ” Mr. Digioia says.
