15 May EC catalogue of national practices for energy prices crisis
Today, the European Commission published a catalogue of national practices aimed at helping EU countries reduce gas and oil consumption, lower energy costs, and deliver immediate savings for households, businesses, and public authorities.
With regard to road transport, the Catalogue identifies the sector as a key area for reducing dependence on fossil fuels and lowering energy costs in the short term. The proposed measures include strengthening public and rail transport, promoting shared and active mobility, and supporting the electrification of cars, vans, trucks, and buses through subsidies, charging infrastructure, and fiscal or tariff incentives.
Particular attention is also given to improving freight logistics and delivery operations in order to enhance the energy efficiency of road transport without requiring major infrastructure investments.
