UETR in Zagreb addresses shortage of drivers issue

At its meeting in Zagreb, UETR addressed the worrying situation of shortage of professional drivers to cover the needs of the transport companies in the different European countries.

Only in France, Italy and Spain transport companies require 50,000 professional drivers.

The shortage also affects the countries of Eastern European countries.

Among the causes of this shortage, the following factors should be highlighted: the lack of technical or labor skills, the low attractiveness of the profession of professional driver as it is a harsh and dangerous activity and the amount of salary offered.

UETR stresses the urgency to address this at the European and national level as it would impact the sector not being able to meet the transportation and hence economic needs of the other  European Union.
