UETR concerned about lack of real progress on the Mobility Package

During the vote in the TRAN Committee of the European Parliament on 10 January, the reports and compromise amendments on posting of workers and driving times and rest periods were rejected.

Divisions among MEPs have prevented that an overall agreement could be reached in relation to key legislative projects.  Just the proposals on access to international market were adopted, at least showing a balanced approach. But the vote led to an incomplete outcome.

While the Council was able to move forward, after one year and a half we regret this lack of willingness to compromise to get to a solution today in the EP. This is another missed opportunity to establish a balanced, fair and competitive European transport market” said UETR President Mr. Villaescusa.
