28 Feb Taxation: first assessment of Eurovignette III

The European Commission has published a first ex-post assessment of application of Eurovignette III directive on the taxation of heavy commercial vehicles for using certain infrastructure.The directive is applied in different ways in EU MS and a real integrated network of electronic road tolls is still far away.
As for the internationalisation of the external costs (emissions and noise) and the earmarking (use of revenues for the the maintenance of the infrastructure), only a few countries are trying to implement the new provisions.
