Strategy on clean and energy efficient vehicles
The European Commission published today its Strategy on Clean and Energy Efficient vehicles (attached). It contains an action plan with 40 practical measures to be implemented by the Commission in the short- and medium-term. The actions cover a wide field of policy areas including:
- Regulatory framework for reduction of environmental impact
- Research and innovation in green technologies
- Market uptake and consumer information
- Trade and employment aspects as well
- Specific actions on electric vehicles such as standardization, charging and refuelling infrastructure or recycling and transportation of batteries.
Next steps:
- End of May: discussion of the Communication in Council
- Later this year: implementation of the first actions contained in the action plan
