Mission and organization

UETR was founded in 1998 and represents today more than 200.000 road transport undertakings in Europe (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) with a total capacity of 430.000 commercial vehicles.

UETR is associate member of SMEunited

UETR is associate member (sectorial organization) of SMEunited, the association of Crafts and SMEs in Europe with around 70 member organisations from over 30 European countries. SMEunited represents national cross-sectoral Craft and SME federations, European SME branch organisations and associate members. Combined, we represent more than 12 million enterprises with around 55 million employees across Europe.

SMEunited is also a recognised employers’ organisation and European Social Partner.

UETR takes the lead and chair the SMEunited Transport Forum, a co-operation platform bringing together small and medium-sized enterprises from manufacturing and repair of road vehicles as well as road transport.

The Forum aims to develop joint positions on all transport-related issues such as sustainable transport, organisation of the supply chain, road safety, infrastructure efficiency etc.
